Dr Grabowski and her staff are the best ever. She has always been compassionate, considerate and caring. I was her patient for 27 years and have the utmost respect for her.
Unfortunately Dr Grabowski has closed her practice, a loss to all who know her but she continues to share her positive spirit in a different way that will make a great impact on many.

Within a doctor-patient relationship, I believe that trust is an important aspect derived from a doctor visit. At Dr. Carol Grabowski's office, the sincerity and care extends only so far. If you want to be treated with hostility and unwarrantedly threatened, by all means, pay a visit to Dr. Carol Grabowski.

The dissatisfaction that stemmed from visiting Dr. Carol Grabowski's office was actually a two part ordeal, first from the visit itself and second, by one of her unprofessional staff that goes by the name "BJ" (appropriately named) and Dr. Grabowski's dismissive, bullying attitude channeled through her and her office.

The office visit with Dr. Grabowski is not where the brunt of where my grievances lie although it does has have its major faults which is why it is included in this review. The reason for my office visit was because I learned through an out-of-network doctor that I had an abnormality that needed further investigation and would need a certain test. My out-of-network doctor suggested that I get a referral from an in-network doctor so that cost of the procedure would be less, hence selecting Dr. Grabowski, an OBGyn found through Aetna since I didn't have one. The office visit took more than 3 and 1/2 hrs long and from all that was said and done, all she did for me was a wellness exam. The bulk of time was spent waiting on the Dr., for her to see other patients at the same time and as she brought her resident intern with her around. Honestly, it was an estimated 2 and 1/2 hours of wait time and 1 hour of actual examination. When I told Dr. Grabowski of my problem, providing a patient history released by my out-of-network doctor and letting her know what I needed from her, she told me that she could not give me the referral because the ultrasound did not provide an explanation and she cannot read them although another test that was included with my packet provide everything she needed to know. She basically said it was outside her scope of work and expertise. I thought that was a reasonable explanation on her part since I was going to see another specialist and was fine with that. I let it go and went ahead with a rountine gynocological exam.

When I received the claim from Aetna of the services rendered, I saw that there were two office visit charges. I called Aetna and they told me that the charges were filed by Dr. Grabowski's office and I would have to consult with them about it. I called Grabowski's office and was recieved by BJ, who was unexcusably rude told me she would not look into it until she had received Aetna's statement of what they would pay. All I had asked was for an explanation justifying charges of two office visits. Their office is the one that put the claim codes in. I was willing to pay the statement's balance but as a patient being charged, I'd like to know where it was coming from. BJ's response to my question was dismissive, stating the reason was because the visit "ran over an hour, a typical wellness visit" and was unwilling to give a full explanation to the diagnosis they provided Aetna which I found out later. To BJ's question of why it ran over an hour and why I thought the charge needed to be reconsidered, I explained to her the reason which was because the doctor was going in and out of the room the time was not entirely devoted to my visit and the Dr. was unable to do anything for my condition as it was out of her scope of work. BJ left with me the impression that she would address the problem with Dr. Grabowski. It was a lie. When I called back on 9/4/12, after recieving a statement of services from their office I asked BJ again if she had talked to the Dr. She claimed that it was the first she's heard of my request. I once again asked if she can address the issue with the Dr and she flatly tells me NO and that I would have to wait until the end of the week for a response. I was resolved to just wait until Friday and see if the issue had really been addressed. On 9/5/12, I recieved a hostile voice message filled with animosity left by BJ that on the Dr.'s orders, if I didn't pay immediately I would be sent to a collection agency (emphasized twice on that recording). I had just recieved the statement of services dated on 8/27/12. 30 days had not elapsed yet. It was rediculous. I called the office and was received by BJ. I asked her why I was treated with such animosity when I was just looking for an answer to my question. To this she threatened me. I then told her I'd pay but I won't be returning to the office and BJ reply was,"Fine" and hung up on me.

As I said, I found through Aetna when a representative called the office herself that the charges were because of larger issues and some other information that I had told the doctor from my historical profile with my out-of-network doctor, problems that I knew already and were not handled by her. I relented. Although she had not done anything for me with these issues, I did in fact talk to her about them. All I wanted was an explanation and it was hard fought.

From my experience, I've concluded that Dr. Carol Grabowski and her office are extremely unprofessional, hostile and unapproachable. If you want answers and you have more than the garden variety problem, you will not get it from there. Money is the only tune they'll listen to which I find to be a wrong and sad reason to be a doctor. All the other doctors whom I have seen in the past are top doctors and ranked high. From this I've learned why there are top doctors and there are the rest. Dr Carol Grabowski will never achieve that ranking. This dr has lost my trust and I will never pay another visit to her office again.
