Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked white long-grain rice

  • 5 cups water

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 2/3 cup white sugar

Directions

  • Combine the rice and water in a blender and blend until the rice starts to break up, about 1 minute. Add the 2 cinnamon sticks to the rice water.

  • Allow the rice water and cinnamon mixture to stand at room temperature for at least three hours.

  • After the cinnamon has steeped, strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher. Add the milk, vanilla, and sugar and stir well. Chill in and serve over ice.
