Ingredients

  • 1 white onion, chopped

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 2 1/2 pounds pork shoulder roast

  • 1 (16 ounce) jar green salsa

  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 2 serrano peppers, or to taste

Directions

  • Place the chopped onion into the slow cooker.

  • Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper and place on top of the chopped onion.

  • Add the green salsa on top of the pork followed by the cilantro and serrano peppers.

  • Cook on the low setting for 8 hours or until the meat falls apart easily.

  • Slowly move the pork from the slow cooker to a cutting board and remove half of the remaining liquid. The onions, peppers, and cilantro can be saved or thrown out

  • Slice the pork shoulder into small strips and mix with the rest of the liquid from the slow cooker to serve.
