Ingredients

  • 4 large portobello mushrooms

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger, peeled

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

Directions

  • Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth. Remove the stems and place them on a dish, stemless side up.

  • To make the marinade, whisk the vinegar, sugar, and ginger in a small bowl. Drizzle over the mushrooms, cover, and marinate 1 hour in the refrigerator, turning the mushrooms once.

  • Heat the grill. Coat the grill rack or broiler pan with cooking spray and position 4-6 inches from the heat source.

  • Grill or broil mushrooms on medium heat for 5 minutes each side, turning often until tender. Baste with the marinade to moist.

  • Use tongs to place on a serving platter, garnish with basil and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.
