Dr Jarod Conley grew up in a small town of fewer than 4,000 people in central Ohio. He became interested in medicine during high school after injuring his knee. 'The orthopedic surgeon who did my knee surgery made an impression on me,' says Dr Conley. 'He made being a doctor look like the most incredible job ever. No one in my family was in medicine, so he was my mentor. I shadowed him; he helped me with my application to medical school and invited me to his office when I was home on break from school.' Dr Conley attended a combined, accelerated undergraduate and medical school program at Northeast Ohio Medical University. During this time, he became interested in dermatology and completed his residency at Washington University in St.
