Dr. Robert (Bobby) Arao’s career is dedicated to the care of patients with advanced lung diseases including interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and earned his MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He then completed fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the combined Harvard program. He spent a year receiving additional training in the care of patients with interstitial lung disease with a focus on rheumatic and inflammatory lung diseases.Dr. Arao collaborates with the lung transplant program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. His research interests include studying minimally invasive approaches for the multidisciplinary diagnosis of interstitial lung disease.
