I called at 2:05pm, the answering message says that their phones are closed from 1pm-2pm for their lunch, all calls are answered by a call service which takes messages. I called again at 2:20, 2:30, and finally at 2:40 I asked the call service how I can speak with reception because I have been calling for 40 minutes... He then transferred me to reception (despite denying this capability every other time I called and asked)
The girl who answered the phone sounded very bewildered. I explained that I am trying to change my daughter to a new PCP and I need to know the steps to take (the form I need to sign to release her information).. She suggested I come into the office and pick it up, which I explained is impossible because their pediatric office is not accessible for a stroller. I have a 1 year old and that is part of the reason I have to switch her doctor. Finally she agreed to fax me the form.. and now after all of that they want to CHARGE ME for my daughters immunization records. I have never had a doctor in my lifetime charge me for my records, and the new pediatrician I am switching to said that they have never heard of anyone charging for it either. I called the office back to inquire as to why I have to pay for the records, and the same girl laughed about it and said that every doctor charges for records. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she said she will take a message. I asked for a voicemail, there isn't one. I asked for the supervisors name, she said "Laurie" and would not provide a last name. I asked for "Laurie"'s title, and she said "uhm, my manager?" .. very unprofessional office and VERY sarcastic little girl at reception. I can't wait to get through this nightmare. I will never return to any Stony Brook Pediatrics of this is the way that they operate. Not to mention that their office is dirty, has NO toys (their reason for not having toys was that it was a cleanliness issue), the "sick" waiting room is adjacent to the "well" waiting room with nothing separating them... the nurses were nice and the doctor Patel was decent in that she wasn't RUDE like the office staff, however she seemed almost bored and of mediocre medical background. I absolutely do not trust any of these people.. Please beware and save yourself a huge hassle.. find qualified professionals to go to for your children. NOT these people.
