About

Golie Khayef, DrPH, MS, RD, CEDRD

My name is Golandam(Golie) Khayef and I am an experienced Registered Dietitian who has been working in the field of nutrition and mental health since 2010. During my dietetic internship, I was approached by several college students with Eating Disorders and other mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, to help them with their nutrition. As an intern, I hardly knew anything about this topic since it was hardly covered in any of my classes. That, however, was the start of my passionate journey into the field of mental health and nutrition. Nutritional status and nutrient intake are often discussed in relation to one's physical health and appearance and yet a healthy body cannot survive without a healthy brain! One's overall psychological well-being is dependent upon so many factors and NUTRITION is definitely one of them. I am proud to say that I have helped so many individuals achieve a higher quality of life by making simple and yet extremely effective nutritional changes in their lives.

Services INITIAL SESSION
The initial/assessment/intake session will most likely be our lengthiest session together. During this session, I will learn all about you, your struggles, your motivation and goal(s) and your stage of readiness. You will also learn all about me and my approach in working with you. In this session, we also discuss long-term goals and follow-up appointments (as needed). During your treatment, no decision will be finalized and no goal will be set without your input and your agreement. This is not my treatment; it is ours: TOGETHER!

FOLLOW-UP SESSION
After the initial session, we will meet as frequently as needed to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges or struggles with the current plan, make changes as needed, and set new goals.
Follow-up sessions can also involve family members/friend(s)/partner(s) if approved/requested by the client.

GROCERY STORE VISIT
Clients always complain about having a hard time with grocery shopping and cooking simple and easy meals.
Well, we can go grocery shopping together! During this trip, I will provide you with tips on how to have a stress-free supermarket experience as well as some quick and easy recipes. This activity requires certain level of mental readiness on client's side, so I will have to evaluate your readiness prior to setting up this activity. Your food budget and ingredient preference will be considered prior to choosing a supermarket.
