The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine (MCAM) is a new healthcare facility in Madison, Mississippi that integrates sub-specialty medical care and clinical pharmacy services for patients with pediatric and congenital disorders. The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine offers a patient-centered treatment team that includes specialty physicians, clinical pharmacy, nursing and social work/care coordination to ensure the patient and family have all of the resources necessary to navigate complex medical processes and insure the best possible outcomes. The clinical pharmacy at the Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine (MCAM) is able to provide and manage both retail and specialty medications. Specialty medications are drugs that are used to treat complex and chronic diseases. These drugs require special storage, handling and administration, necessitate extensive patient education, and require greater clinical support to maximize patient outcomes than non-specialty medications. In addition to our medical providers, our clinical pharmacists see all patients on specialty medications when they visit the center. MCAM pharmacists add incredible value to patient management at the point of care versus the point of sale. Integrating medical and pharmaceutical services is a necessity for providing safe, timely, and quality comprehensive care to patients and their families.
