Becoming parents often stirs up many issues for pregnant couples, concerns, doubts, and possibly unresolved issues with their parents. A specialization, is Early Intervention in Pregnancy offering expectant parents to explore the ghosts in their childhood closet, unconsciously brought forward into adulthood. There is an opportunity for couples to consider the influences of different family experiences, challenges the couple relationship is likely to face bringing home a completely dependent newborn; and to develop strategies for maintaining or possibly improving the bond in their relationship. Bringing a newborn baby home from the hospital has its own set of challenges often related to expectations about "newborns" that are often not aligned with the reality of a newborn's very immature development. The Happiest Baby on the Block educational program orients parents to consider after birth their baby is actually in the "Fourth Trimester," not ready yet to be a social being.
