Active Release, or ART, is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. Dr. Ian is a certified Active Release Technique practitioner.

Graston is a soft tissue treatment which aims to decrease muscle soreness and eliminate trigger points within the muscle. The treatment is administered with stainless steel instruments and treats tissue fibrosis and chronic tissue inflammation. This technique is used widely among professional and recreational athletes. Graston allows for increased freedom of movement and a decrease in chronic muscle tightness and chronic muscle fatigue.

Sports medicine and physical therapy practices often use cold laser therapy in the treatment of minor injuries and sprains, such as: ligament sprains, muscle strains and pain associated with muscle spasms. We use a therapeutic laser (also called a cold laser) to reach the source of your pain (anywhere from back pain, neck pain and extremities) deep beneath the skin. The light wavelengths from the laser penetrate deep tissue to reduce inflammation, decrease scar tissue and increase blood flow. Not only does laser treatment performed by a Chiropractor promote healing, but it does so without side effects and pain. The treatment is non invasive and is done in a few minutes time in our office.

We use RockTape for Kinesiology Taping at Peninsula Chiropractic Group. RockTape is the world’s best kinesiology tape used by Chiropractors. It can be used to treat sports and non-sports injuries, including shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and runner's knee. It also is used on every day pain areas such as neck pain, back pain and for posture! RockTape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, creating a decompression effect. Stretchier, stickier and stronger than the competition, RockTape is preferred by athletes and medical professionals throughout the world.

Creating suction and negative pressure, cupping is used to release tight muscles, and release scar and connective tissue, Cupping also increases hydration and blood flow, while draining toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. Cupping has also been known as a recovery method for elite athletes such as Micheal Phelps, used to relieve tension in their backs, shoulders and muscles. The technique relies on suction cups that pull the skin back and loosen muscles and tendons, unlike a massage where they would be pressed.

Ian saw me for rib pain and was amazing. He made sure i understood everything he was doing and why. Once the rib was fixed in just one visit the pain has not come back.
