Robert Petry, Ph.D.

Bringing over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Robert Petry has offered insight and guidance to both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia (VCU-MCV). He is a graduate of post doctoral programs in cognitive, psychodrama, metaphysical, gestalt and Hakomi mind/body therapy. He has trained with or attended workshops with some of the greatest innovators in psychotherapy and in most modalities, including cognitive and behavioral. Dr. Petry is a Virginia State Board Licensed Psychologist with a recognized area of specialty in hypnosis (highest distinction Diplomate).

Dr. Petry believes, woven into all of us, there's an ability, an organizing principle, for healing. In our sessions, the intention is to greet you in the Now, find access routes to your personal information and your organizing principles that will facilitate your healing. Providing a sense of safety is primary in this process.

Therapeutic change is facilitated through circumventing mental blocks and psychological defenses. This belief has led him on a quest to study and purse supplemental healing methods with indigenous healers in various countries and cultures. He weds years of traditional clinical therapy experience to hypnosis. Combining the best aspects to facilitate your healing journey.
