In 2018 I had a serious blood infection in my right knee requiring surgery. After I finished in-patient skilled nursing care, I had Bethany Nienhuis provide out-patient physical therapy for me. It involved pool therapy, exercise equipment use and at-home exercises. Bethany was very knowledgeable, very skilled in working with me, very communicative in showing me what to do, very perceptive regarding how my body was working and very supportive. At first she did not think I could succeed when I said that I intended to play racquetball again as well as I ever had. By the time we finished, she invented exercises to help me regain needed skills and I returned to playing racquetball at my old level of play.

In January, 2020, I had a mid-back painful muscle and my doctor’s order for PT went to Bethany at my request. Again she did a wonderful job and I was completely healed by mid-February. I soon fell while gardening and injured my lower back. By the time I was seen by my doctor, Covid-19 “stay-at-home” orders were in place and I asked Bethany if she could provide “tele-physical-therapy” for me. She said that she thought she could, so another order by my doctor went to Bethany.

Bethany has been amazing in inventing effective physical therapy entirely delivered via live video on cellphones plus recorded video on the internet. She was able to pinpoint the affected muscles by having me point them out via cellphone and evaluate my condition via discussion of symptoms coupled with seeing affected areas via cellphone. She provided recorded videos where she demonstrated each of the home exercises I was to do and accompanied each exercise with a still photo extracted from the recorded video coupled with text explaining every thing I needed to know about the exercise. Once a week we had cellphone visits (with live video) to discuss how the week’s exercises were going; Bethany provided a new recorded video each week as treatment progressed and different exercises were needed. After six week’s I was completely healed. Bethany’s “tele-physical-therapy” really works!
