Meet Dr. Gary Rakes:
It's great to be an allergy and asthma doctor -- I'm always confident I can help my patients improve their quality of life. In this digital age, I enjoy using all the advantages of 21st century medicine, but I think it is still important to really listen and treat patients like individuals.

I feel I already have a head-start on getting to know my patients: I'm a Virginia native and have lived in this area through all my professional training (undergrad, medical school, pediatric residency, and allergy fellowship at the University of Virginia) and through 15 years of allergy practice. I combine this hometown feel with my valuable experience as an Assistant Professor and full-time allergist here at UVA for over 10 years, where I taught and helped train medical students, resident physicians, and allergists.

I look forward to seeing patients of all ages in our clinics in both Charlottesville and Fishersville.

It is a mill and everyone is on a ferris wheel - everyone gets 10 minutes for the ride. No results - too bad, time's up! Organized - we are not. Look elsewhere for proper allergy and asthma doctors...

I'm usually somewhat sensitive to the cold, so I was a little worried that their office would be too cold, but it was fine. They don't really take that extra step to make me feel special. I'm just another client to them. They weren't horribly inexperienced, but I was hoping for someone with more experience. I wasn't sure they'd be able to help me. I felt a little pressured to buy products, but it wasn't overbearing. Still, I wish they had been a little more professional.
