About Dr. Kingsley

I have been a clinical psychologist committed to the practice of creative and compassionate psychotherapy for over 20 years. Prior to that, my work was in the arts, primarily the performing arts, and I use this background freely to provide imagery to enrich my therapeutic work. In addition to a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, I have a Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Delaware.

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Dr. Aaron Beck, the father of cognitive therapy, and also to work at the Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy under the direction of Dr. David Burns. I am a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner

I am also a long term meditator and enjoy bringing mindfulness practices into my work. Because I realize that every client and situation is different, I try to tailor each therapy relationship to address the issues and style of the individual client, couple or family. I am active and motivating, yet respectful of clients’ needs to feel fully understood and not to receive a one-size-fits-all intervention. My goal is to create a compassionate and supportive relationship to facilitate the changes that you wish to make.

I maintain offices is Ashburn and Sterling Virginia.
