John O'Donnell, Ph.D.

I have been in practice for over 30 years and specialize in individual adult psychotherapy. It is my belief we are all trying to live meaningful lives in which we are able to express our talents and abilities and make deeper connections with those who are most important to us. The type of psychotherapy I provide offers a safe and accepting environment where obstacles that prevent a fuller life are explored and understood. A good psychotherapy outcome is one where a person experiences greater self-acceptance and greater self-love. My goal is to help each person see and understand the fuller picture of his or her life to be in a position of choosing to live more fully.
My therapeutic foundation is psychoanalytic/psychodynamic and I integrate other modalities when they are indicated. In addition, for over 25 years I was a full time professor where I taught a variety of psychology courses including a course I developed entitled "Psychology and Spirituality." I was also a co-founding member of the Center for Psychotherapy, Education, and Spiritual Growth," a pastoral counseling center.
