About

Elizabeth Devine, LPC

My education and experience have prepared me for work with a number of issues including, but not limited to:

*Families Affected by Addiction

*Domestic Violence

*Grief

*Abuse and Neglect

*Parenting Issues

*Spiritual Matters

*Relationship Challenges

* Adolescent Issues

Whatever problems you may face, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how I may help. If you or I feel that someone else would be better suited to serve you, I will be happy to help you identify other resources.

Currently, my practice is focused on older children, adolescents and adults. I believe that the counseling relationship should be an interactive and collaborative one as I make every attempt to understand the clients perspective in an empathic and non-judgmental environment. I also find it extremely valuable to help the client with insight into themselves and their situation.

I work primarily, although not exclusively, from the cognitive-behavioral perspective of counseling. The foundation of this approach is the concept that our beliefs influence our consequent thoughts and feelings. By exploring the clients core beliefs and thought processes, it is possible to believe, act and feel in a way that is more self-aware, genuine, and successful. I enjoy helping clients explore aspects of their situation that are within their control and helping them achieve the changes they would like. Thinking and acting in new ways can be challenging and require practice. I feel it is my role to encourage you in this. It is just as important to aid clients in finding healthy ways to cope and available support systems, especially when outside changes are impossible.
