I work with children, adults, families and couples. My approach is grounded in the knowledge science offers us regarding the fundamental nature of emotions and human relationships. Humans are an empathic species, and it is now clear that we are hardwired to flourish in relationships. When stress, anxiety, depression, irritability, and trauma interfere with our ability to be in loving relationships with others, it is distressing in a way that we feel at our core. I emphasize a sense of safety in order to co-create a therapeutic relationship with you that will facilitate your healing and growth.

I combine traditional talk psychotherapy with Somatic Experiencing (r) techniques for an approach that is more effective than talk therapy alone. I enlist your body as well as your mind in order to re-discover the strengths you already have that will guide your healing process.

I am a Somatic Experiencing practitioner, having completed over 230 hours of coursework, practice, and case consultation to develop proficiency in this powerful approach. I have also completed the 30-hour California Problem Gambling Treatment Services training. I have specialized training in working with grief, loss and long-term illness.

Gwynne Gilson is a well-trained, ethical, discerning and balanced provider of psychotherapy. As a colleague, I have worked with Gwynne on multiple cases over the years, involving family, individual and child therapy.
