Knowing the history of IHS, I was reluctant to seek medical care here. I do have good medical insurance (until June ’13) that requires a co-pay that I can no longer afford since my income has been drastically reduced. I’ve been using Creek Nation Community Hospital/Clinic for over 5 years.
With multiple medical issues associated with age, cancer, and, heart I’ve not been an inexpensive patient. Creek Hospital bills my insurance for whatever they can recoup and absorbs the rest. Next month the IRS will start taking a monthly premium from my Social Security income. Although I could use Medicare at many doctors office I will continue to use the Creek Nation Community Hospital/Clinic.
There are a couple sour grapes in the bunch. I’ll not mention names. Most everyone treats me like I’m special. Many have taken the time to know me on sight by my first name. I can’t mention them all by name but most everyone are not only proficient but a real pleasure to be around. I’ll give special mention to Taren (appointments), pharmacy, primary care doctor/nurse, lab technicians, hospital nurses, the staff at the Dental Clinic, Eye Clinic and not to forget Amber in Contract Health. Oh! I can’t forget Dr. Lucenta and eye specialist who volunteer their time at the clinic. They are all such a blessing!
I will say this though. If you ever get hospitalized there… bring your own food. I’ve lived on C rats, and MREs. Nothing I’ve ever put in my mouth compares to their hospital food. It is absolutely the worst thing I’ve ever attempted to eat.
