PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR LOVE ONES!!! I totally agree with George's review!! I would not leave a member of my family again in this place. Example: A patient had fallen, hit her eye and head and nothing was done for over 30 minutes till help finally came and then was given and ice pack and Tylenol. She had a bump on her forehead the size of an egg and cut above her eye. The nurse never called the spouse or a squad. The patient in pain called her husband herself. Then when he called the nurses station no one answered till several attempts. Was TOLD by spouse to at least call he doctor on call and see what he wants to do or he would. The doctor said call the squad! When they came ( the squad) saw what had happened and rushed her to he trauma center at Riverside. This was not acceptable handling of his situation. The nurse on that night said "Why call the squad they will just take her to the ER and bring her right back" This patient was moved immediately and is doing so much better. I DO NOT recommend his place at all. Also the name change to Heartland of Westerville is the same place, so don't be fooled. This place was terrible, but the therapy people really seemed to care as did a few nurses aids and 1 nurse. Side note, this patient had a concussion, left eye was totally swollen shut and the face is all black and blue.

My relative stayed at the nursing home for almost 6 weeks. My feelings are mixed about the place. On the one hand, some of the aides were wonderful. They took good care of my relative. On the other hand, some aides were not so nice to her/him. The biggest problem was the too often 30 minute wait to get help. And if you are a problem patient, they just put you in front of the televsion, and turn the sound up loud so no one can hear you screaming. I think the therapists were wonderful. They were kind and helpful. The nurses were probably the most uncaring of the bunch. The doctor was plain absent. It took us a week to see him, and he never returned during six weeks. I think the worse part of the nursing home is the mental anguish inflicted upon its residents, and no one seems to care. Don't leave your relative unattended there. They will assure you your relative will be taken care of, but they won't be. If your relative has any sort of cognitive decline or delirium, they will be ignored. The thing is would another nursing home be better? I somehow doubt it. Finally, on the good side, the place is clean, the food is good, and there is 24/7 visitation. That is why my review is mixed.
