My mom received great care under medicare where she was checked on every 15 to 20 minutes. Restraints on bed, bed lowered and floor with mats protected her from falls. When switched to medicaid/private care, I didn't see anyone in her room for 3 hours as the nurse took a 3 hour dinner break. (1 hour off site, 1 hour eating, 1 hour locked away) Refused to provide any of the items provided under medicare to restrict severe falls. My mother eventually fell, broke her hip and was informed that she might have been laying on the floor for a while, up to 2 or 3 hours before anyone checked on her. Died 3 days later. Death ruled accidental, not natural as result of fall.

We put my mom here because she needed 24/7 care. This was our first and hopefully last time we have to deal with a nursing home. Her care was horrifying. She had a terminal disease so when she went in she was able to do some things herself but after a few weeks she was totally dependent on the staff and they let us all down. There was one RN who would bring her her meds, put them down in front of her and then leave even though he was supposed to stay and watch her swallow them. I would visit my mom every day for 4-5 hours. A gentleman a few rooms down would yell for a nurse sometimes for 30 minutes several times a day before anyone would tend to him. My mom would ask me to help him because she couldn't stand to hear him yell out in pain and yell for the nurses. My mom used to say they didn't like her. It was hard to know for sure. Her meds were never given to her on time. They would see me walk down the hallway and race past me to give her the meds she should have gotten hours before. The more we complained the worse they were towards her. One time I walked into my moms room and she was wet from her chest down from edema. The CNA was just finishing with the other woman in the room and when she walked past my mom she said she would get to her in a little while. I knew that meant around 2:30, right before the shift change. It was 11 am. I stopped the CNA from leaving the room and insisted she take care of my mom right then and there. She did but with an ugly attitude. Another time an RN brought her medicine in. My mom was using the bathroom and needed help. The RN left the room to call a CNA to help her. He was right there and should have helped her himself but didn't.
I would not allow my worse enemy to go there. If you don't have a choice, then someone should be there with the patient 24/7 to be sure they are being treated right and everyone is doing their jobs.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! I should have figured it out on my first visit when the male receptionist didn't acknowledge my presence upon entering the building.
