My mom has been at Meridian for about 4 months. The building is beautiful, new, clean and well kept. The grounds are lovely. Beautiful flowers, walking paths, putting green and small streams and ponds. My mom lives upstairs where the elderly requiring more care are kept. The CNA's are overworked and it shows. The nurses are not helpful and lazy. I visit mom about 3 to 4 times a week and felt compelled to help out with keeping room clean, helping with toileting duties, changing clothes. After I saw the nurses lack of response, I stopped. We pay alot of money for their services. When mom presses button for help, a light appears outside her door. The nurses are usually just outside the door dispensing meds and never come to help. It usually takes about 20 minutes for the cna's to respond. So far, they've lost mom's hearing aid and some of her clothes. The nurse blamed my mom, saying that she's always taking them out. My response was to then, put them in the case so they don't get lost. But now, it's too late for that! I'm pretty upset over their lack of concern for the residences personal belongings. Mom has had 2 bad rashes from lack of pad changes and soiled pants. But to their credit, they took care of the rash and was gone within a few days. A few times when I visited, I walked in the room and saw her roommate in bed, pants down to her ankles, no underwear and naked from the waist down. The curtain was not drawn for dignity. I was not happy. I never told the family about the incident, but plan to address it in my upcoming meeting with meridian in a few weeks. Overall, my experience has been average. I understand from the physical and occupational therapist that this is one of the better places. Not sure if I would recommend it. They definitely have positives with the atmosphere but they also have negatives with staff and most of the staffs attitudes towards the residences.

The health center has was to high of a turn around, every time I am there I see several new CNA'S. I can not possibly see how that is good for the residents, Prior to the new management it seemed as though the staff stayed longer and management was involved with the staff and residents. It is a battle to get any of the nurses to comply with orders from the doctors. Tasks as simple as putting lotion on dry skin, changing residents so they do not sit in soiled cloths and they seem to have a huge issue with dignity issues....every time I am there my loved one has dry food on their face, 2nd day worn cloths and their hair not combed. Management tells family members how life is going to be despite wishes from the resident and family. It is a rat race that needs to be controlled. It is so unfortunate that all of the directors seem to only be concerned with how good they look and will throw anyone under the bus as long as they look good. FAKE! I would never recommend anyone to bring their loved one here, it’s over priced with horrible care.
