I was sent to Tawni Hawthorne as a desperate and suicidal college student. She spent most of our time together belittling the work I was doing in school ("theses are for PhD's, not bachelor's"). Ohhh-kay.. and trying to get me to tell her that my father had molested me (he had not), being of the school of thought that I had repressed memory syndrome (I didn't). Then repeatedly called my father to demand payment on the bill he had not yet received. When he was firm that he wouldn't pay a bill he didn't have, she screamed that she "knew why [your kid] is so screwed up!!" and hung up on him. I wanted to complain about her then, but didn't want any more to do with her. In hindsight, I should have complained, loudly and to as many people as I could. I understand now that she is damaging, was the worst thing that could have happened to me at that stage of my life, and should never be allowed to help anyone again. All these years later, I am still shocked at what a dangerous person she is. I deeply regret not complaining to the AMA about her.
