About

Frank Lane, MD

I provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults, adolescents and senior citizens in a comfortable outpatient setting near White Rock Lake, in East Dallas. Formerly Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at Doctors Hospital where I was on staff 1987-2001, I have focused on outpatient treatment from the time Tenet Healthcare closed the unit there in 2001.

I like to get a detailed history on my patients, not only concerning past medical conditions & treatments, but also biographical data, most especially covering those events in life which they feel have been the most influential. I try to make my patients as comfortable as possible while placing the highest priority on protecting their privacy & confidentiality.

I respect each person's unique path through life and work hard to avoid any interference from commonly held stereotypes or bias. I welcome all who seek a deeper understanding of themselves no matter what background they come from- all religious faiths, agnostic or atheists, are welcome here, as are all ethnic groups, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations and educations.

There is no one treatment that works for everyone. Sometimes a "talking therapy" may be all that's needed. At other times behavioral & cognitive interventions may work best. Medications & other biological therapies must be carefully selected and monitored if applied and clear guidelines established for when a hospital or other treatment facility may be necessary either for safety reasons or to achieve a necessary intensity level for effective treatment.

I've known Dr. Lane for several years and during that time he has been very helpful and provided me with excellent care and guidance. What I especially like about him is his genuine concern for my wellbeing. He's not one to say, "Let me prescribe some medications for you and try to medicate your concerns away." Instead, he listens attentively and in a compassionate way tries to find the best approach to treat my issues.

Each doctor one sees will have a different personality and style. I'm very comfortable with Dr. Lane as my Psychiatrist. I can speak honestly with him about any topic. My health is foremost to him. I will gladly recommend him to anyone seeking an intelligent, professional, and caring physician

Dr. Lane is by far the most helpful doctor I've ever seen.

His knowledge of his specialty is encyclopedic, and he stays very up-to-date, but he also has a good handle on several other medical fields. He has given me information about my non-psych conditions that I've been able to talk to other doctors about, eventually leading me to the correct treatment.

He listened more thoroughly than any other doctor I've encountered, and helped me assess my main concerns in addition to determining his diagnosis of me. After only a few months of being his patient Dr. Lane had begun to steer my mental health in the right direction. Now, after having been his patient for several years, I'm emotionally stable, and have been so for some time.

I'll be keeping Dr. Lane as my psychiatric provider until he retires.
