I was nervous about going to a dentist -- I'd had uncomfortable experiences with an orthodontist and a dentist before.

The front desk was friendly, the waiting room was clean. I'm not sure how long I waited in the room or in the chair -- it didn't feel very long, and I didn't care anyway. I was at a dentist's office, and scared out of my wits.

So they took an x-ray, and one of the first things the dentist said when she arrived was my wisdom teeth will have to come out (this is when the nervous laughter starts). She talked to me about the book I had clutched to my chest in a white-knuckled grip while she prepared me for procedure. She told me everything she was going to do and what it would feel like and kept me comfortable. It was a pleasant trip.

Once upon a time I'd never consider regular cleanings or checkups with a dentist. It's going to be a regular part of my health, now that the dentist is no longer a boogeyman. If you're terrified of dentists, Berlin is perfect. She's competent, down to earth and kind.

Yes! He/she took a personal call right in front of me. I found it to be incredibly rude.
