I saw Dr. Bouchard back in 2002 and my experience was good. I was happy to find her in 2013 for my second pregnancy, but this time the office situation was a little different. There were three OBGYN doctors who would see me throughout my pregnancy, including Dr. Bouchard, and one of them would be available for the delivery. At first I liked this idea, because I thought having three professionals helping me would be better than one.
In the end, I was not completely satisfied with my care. After my first visit I started experiencing complications, so I called in to make an appointment. I was told over the phone that I was likely having a miscarriage and was sent in for a series of blood work that showed my pregnancy hormones were falling.
After 'miscarrying' for 8 days, I read ONLINE that my negative blood type required a rhogam shot within 72 hrs of miscarriage to prevent sensitization (which would make it more challenging to have a baby next time).
I called to request the shot, was contacted after a day, and told that I need to go to the hospital right away that my 'window was closing' to get the rhogam shot. Later, I read that I should have received this shot after my first visit since I was spotting.
A patient shouldn't have to find vital information on Google to get quality care. This was my first miscarriage. I expected the health professionals to know what was needed, not Google.
Never got a follow up appointment or ultrasound to confirm the miscarriage.
Definitely looking for another doctor.
