I had Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for a sinus infection and I regret it every single day! I was against it for a very long time because it honestly didn't make sense to me, but with my symptoms getting worse and being advised by several ENT's (Lebowitz included) that I needed it, I finally gave in. Plus, he said with the utmost confidence, that my nose would not feel any different and that no maintenance (medicine) would be needed once it heals. He really sold me. 6 months later, I constantly have large, disgusting globs of snot falling down my throat 24/7 (because of this, I cough all day and have trouble breathing at times), my nose gets incredibly dry to the point where it burns now and bleeds at times, polyps came right back a month after surgery, my sense of smell left once again a month after surgery, and it just feels so unpleasant to have this extra space in your nose. It feels like my nose and lungs are completely out of sync now. Also can't forget the mental and emotional snowfall that comes with these constant symptoms, and the uncertainty of what's to come. Will I ever kiss a girl again with all the stuff that's spilling out of my nose constantly?

Find a doctor that actually listens to you because this one doesn't. He's a robot, just going through the motions; unaware of the implications of his work and lazy advice. Find a doctor who understands that not all sinus issues are a direct result of our sinuses. Find that actually looks at you as a unique patient and not just another lab rat or dollar sign. Look for someone who will actually take the time to figure out what's causing your issues because there's no turning back once they remove tissue and bone from your sinuses. After that, you'll be on your own to figure it out since they won't take responsibility for a mistake that you have to live with for the rest of your life.
