Ophthalmic surgeon, Dr. Neil Griffin offers the latest in advanced lenses for cataract surgery. Dr. Griffin is a pioneer in endokeratoplasty, a new type of corneal transplantation technique. He has presented study results and his technique to surgeons in both the United States and abroad. As an Ophthalmologist leader in the field he continues to instruct corneal surgeons on the latest advancements.

Dr. Griffin received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served his internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and completed his residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He received his highly-specialized fellowship in cornea and external disease from the University of Texas in Houston. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Reuben Tipton, M.D., specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology. He grew up in Tiptonville, Tennessee.

Dr. Tipton received his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, with honors in Biology. He received his medical degree from University Tennessee-Memphis and residency at the University of Alabama Eye Foundation Hospital and basic science portion at Stanford University.

Dr. Tipton has been in private practice in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since 1980. He has received the Myrtle Beach, Herald newspaper, “Ophthalmology of the Year Award” and has been included in numerous editions of “The Best Doctors in America”, Southeast Region. All doctors selected for this publication were chosen by other physicians within their specialty.

Dr. Tipton is board certified and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology. He enjoys fishing, wildlife and landscape photography, food and wine and travel.

Shawn D. Thomas, OD

Dr. Shawn D. Thomas, a native of Pennsylvania, completed his undergraduate studies at Penn State University. He went on to obtain his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He continued his extensive training at The Eye Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Medical Hospital at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia and Katzen Eye Group in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Thomas was the clinical director at INSIGHT LASIK and Refractive Group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he managed over 20,000 refractive surgery cases in his twelve years of practice. He has also published extensively on refractive surgery and has lectured internationally in his almost 20 years as a treating physician.

Dr. Thomas is an avid outdoorsman and his love for the ocean and offshore fishing brought him to the Myrtle Beach area. He resides in Murrells Inlet with his wife, Corrie, and two step daughters, Londyn and Vivien. He enjoys spending time with his family, on the golf course and as Captain aboard his fishing boat, Underdog.

With sophisticated measurements of your cornea and using the most advanced technology, Wavefront-Optimized LASIK has been able to provide patients with a greater chance of 20/20 vision compared to traditional LASIK.
