Julie has the right mix of nurturing support, push, and actionable to do steps. She is smart and understands to broad picture. We worked with others for 14 months with no progress. After working with Julie for 3 months, we are finally seeing progress.

Julie was the first therapist I ever saw and she almost destroyed my faith in therapy completely. She used guilt and shame to "guide" me when I was in a very vulnerable place to begin with. She was also verbally and emotionally abusive toward my loved one during family sessions. I would not send my worst enemy to her.

Things Julie has done:

*When I told her that I cancelled plans with friends because of anxiety (obviously something I wanted to stop feeling the need to do), she admonished me that I needed to stop doing that because "your friends will think it's weird."
*When told that I relapsed or wasn't doing well, would repeatedly respond, "Well, I gave you all the tools, why aren't you using them?" I felt so ashamed to go in and talk to her when I'd had a bad week.
*Told me I shouldn't speak at a mental illness awareness event when I was in college because boys might be in the audience and not want to date me.
*Once, when I asked if my dad could come and give his perspective of how things had been this week, because I felt like my memory and awareness weren't the best, got offended that I would dare assume she needed "help" to know what was going on with me. Repeatedly brought up out of the blue how completely unacceptable it was. Told me that she knew things about me I didn't even know about myself, and I should never have insulted her competence by acting like she needed anybody else to tell her how I was doing.
*Called my parents without my knowledge or consent to ask if I was going to work when I was supposed to.
*Told me that closing the door and crying in my office was unacceptable, but offered no alternatives.
*Told me, when I was 21, that I was "too old to be calling and crying to mom and dad" when I was having a bad day, and I should be talking to her instead.
*Made me feel constantly ashamed of my depression and anxiety.

I'm in the process of filing an ethical complaint, and I pray to god this woman will lose her license. Please stay the hell away from her.

This is one of the most vile person I have ever encountered. Not only did she basically destroy any hope of my family resolving conflict, she actually destroyed the family even more. To the point of lying and manipulating Family members without any professional reason to give such advice. Advice that ended up making family members hate each other as much as any human could. You could go over in detail what you wanted to achieve in a family meeting and she would do the opposite of what you said that you told her would cause the meeting to blow up. I have no idea why this lady is allowed to do what she does but she is a complete pigheaded jerk that felt her ego was more important than the mental health of her patients.

She is so that the more research and asking around the more horrible stories I hear. This woman will do nothing to push HER agenda rather than what is right for the family. And she caused me to incorrectly believe things about my family for months that she lied about.

Basically this woman, cost me months of my life with my family while I lived in resentment and anger all because she mislead all of us.

Not only do I not recommend this lady but I recommend her being revoked of whatever license she has to do what she does.

And the system makes you give at least a star, but if it would let me put a NEGATIVE star i would put 1 million of them

I have had 3 apointment with Julie and have been very impressed by the depth of her professional knowledge. I have never met a therapist who was as willing to listen and to get to the bottom of the problem as Julie.

Julie Cornell was not helpful to our family. Her rigid mindset and one-size-fits-all approach actually created more problems for the family member who needed help. After 2 visits, he was scared to go back and felt that he couldn't be honest with her about his issues. We felt that she did not listen or understand our situation.
