I was in Union Hospital ER on 2/2/17 around 6:30 PM for a chronic migraine that could not be controlled. I have Lifeline, elderly, and used that to call for help. The EMTs said not to take my walker because it probably would be lost. Also did not have glasses, I am terribly myopic. Everything went as planned, until I was told "you are discharged" then I was left alone on a bed in the middle of a large room - abandoned. I had said I do not have my rollator, cane or anything. Also I said I could not see without my glasses. I was not even asked if I needed help. Once I was discharged the nurse left me lickety split and I was still groggy and did not even get a chance to ask for a wheelchair which in retrospect should have been offered. I was not able to get off that thing without help. I wasn't able to make myself heard calling for help. I finally rolled off the bed got to a doorway. Then called out where to go. I normally use a rollator but I had to do without and was led to a waiting room. again no help I could only follow behind. The nurse did call Lyft for me so that I had a way home. I got one foot in front of the other and made my way to the car, again without help. I was the only one in that large room, no other patients. The business of working on her computer took priority over my safety. Believe me if had been clear minded, I had IV that basically put me to sleep, I would have given her what for. So it seems once you are "discharged" no one is allowed to offer the patient some help not even a wheel chair. I couldn't really complain as I should hae at the time because my mind was not clear.

I was hospitalized in the child psychiatric ward of Union Hospital Feb. 2013. I'm 18 years old and a girl. I had Dr. Ho, who was completely useless. He took one patient off of all of her meds cold turkey, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. I was hospitalized because of a failed suicide attempt. I am at a healthy weight, but I suffer from a severe eating disorder and Dr. Ho repeatedly made snide comments about how fat I was. This would be bad even if he didn't know that I was suicidal and had an eating disorder. The nurses were mean and frequently unnecessarily violent with the patients (who were all CHILDREN). Mark and Ed were nice. The food was stale and unhealthy, and I was denied visits with my parents for no reason. I received no respect, and was not told when my meds were being changed and such. The common room was always filthy or was dripping with bleach. I got burns on the back of my thighs from sitting on the chairs there in shorts. The bathrooms were filthy. The female med nurse was horrible, but the male one named Kennedy was really great.
Tl; dr: You are better off dead than being hospitalized here.
