They do not explain their financial policies regarding mandatory attendance and both groups and therapy. When I called to cancel a therapy session (explaining that I could not afford it), I received a rude phone call explaining that they could not treat me any longer. Their website states that they have a sliding scale - I did not see that. Do not go unless you can afford a copay for 2-3 sessions per week - the require a card on file and they will use it without explaining why. They also put me through testing without explaining how this relates to the therapy and the groups. The last two days have been hell and all I can do is cry. Not all patients can budget for unexpected expenses - Perhaps it works for some, but I was not there long enough to bear the fruit of their method because they kicked me to the curb.

If I had known what a horrible experience I was going to have, I never would have gone in the first place. I would never refer a friend or family member here ever.

When they started to give me advice that seemed biased, I began to doubt their motives. I didn't trust that they were giving me advice that would genuinely help me instead they were more interested in their pocketbooks!

Do NOT go there and waste your money.

My whole family has been to Gearing Up for a variety of issues, and we have been happy with all of our services. They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. If they don't know the answer, they always know by the next session. I would see them over anyone else in the field. My family doctor recommended them and then I researched the practice myself and was very happy with what I found. Even my insurance company recommended Gering Up! Dr Sylvia Gearing is definitely an expert (if you don't believe me, Google her). I've already recommended Gearing Up to people at my church. They made a huge impact in my life. I was glad that they were located in a safe neighborhood in the heart of Plano. I've been to some other places where I was scared to get out of my car but not here. They made me wait a little while in the waiting room, but no more than any other doctor I've ever been to. It's usually around a 5 minute wait. Not a big deal. The most I ever waited was about 10 minutes and they were dealing with an emergency client.

This Place Is Pure Evil!
Whatever you do, don't trust Dr. Gearing. Patient confidentiality is a total joke with this place. If you want all your secrets spilled to the entire world like tabloid gossip, then just mention them to Dr. Gearing. Dr. Gearing completely ruined my family with lies and some of the poorest mental health descisions I have ever seen. I am so sorry I ever trusted Dr. Gearing. What started a some tension and shaky relationships turned into a horrible legal mess and near destruction of my family.
STAY AWAY!!
Go anywhere else! Hell, tell your hairdresser your problems, you'd be much better off! Sorry I could only give as low as one star to this evil place.
