I couldn't find a salon that would open early to do my hair style for my wedding day July 10. Our wedding was at 10:00am so it would have to be as early as 6:00am. I was excited when I called and spoke with the Owner of Cabana's back in March. March 10th I made a payment to secure my wedding date with the Owner Leisa. She was very nice and very accommodating she said she opens early all the time and has opened as early as 4:00am. I immediately asked if I could make a payment to secure the date. I was happy to finally have my hair appointment booked. We ended the call with the expectation for me to have a trial done sometime in may/june. I called back the end of may to book my trial and Leisa said she would have to cancel my July 10th appointment, she didn't realize she was on vacation that week, she asked me to give her my card number so she could swipe it through and reimburse me the payment I made in March. I told her I couldn't believe she would leave me high and dry, she responded by saying you have plenty of time to find another hairdresser. I booked the appointment ahead of time and only had a little over a month to find someone, not enough time in my opinion. I wasn't comfortable in giving her my credit card number after how unprofessional she was. Since I was busy planning a wedding and couldn't make it in the Salon to get reimbursed she was going to mail me a check.

Long story short. She called the week before my wedding (July 1) asking me to confirm our appointment Saturday, I told her as she requested I found another hair dresser. She said she would reimburse me the payment but had to check with her accountant on when the check would be mailed. She immediately called back stating it was a non-refundable deposit and wasnt refunding the payment. I told her never in our conversations was it ever stated it was a non-refundable deposit and on several occasions she herself said she would reimburse me the payment. I told her I didnt want to argue with her it was a waste of her time and mine, if she didnt want to refund me the payment them I would contact the BBB. She said oh so you're going to contact the BBB, I said yes if you are not going to refund me my payment. She said you know what I am going to do, I will refund you your payment, have a nice day and hung up on me. So she was suppose to mail me a check for reimbursement and still hasnt. My wedding has passed I just got back from our 10 day honeymoon and thought I would check in with her one last time, she said she doesnt remember our conversation she works 60+ hours a week but will not refund the payment, that they need 48 hours notice for a cancellation. I NEVER canceled, she did!!! And further more it was July 1st when she called to confirm and I told her since you canceled at the end of May I found a new hairdresser. If I am not mistaken that is several days in advance! Not very professional in my opinion. You be the judge.

IN RESPONSE To the previous poster: I secured my wedding date with Leisa the Owner on March 10 a payment was made. I was to call back for a trial at the end of May. When I called back she said SHE would have to cancel the appointment she didn't realize when she scheduled it she was on vacation that week. She asked me for my credit card to swipe to reimburse me. Her being unprofessional I wasn't comfortable giving that to her, she said she would mail it to me. Getting married July 10 I was busy never received the check and never heard back from the owner until July 1st, she called to confirm the July 10 appointment. I told her as you requested I found a new hairdresser since you canceled on me. She said she doesn't remember the conversation she works 60+ hours a week and she wasn't reimbursing me, that it was a non-refundable deposit and would need 48 hours notice to cancel. It was July 1st the wedding was July 10 so I am not sure of her thinking process on this one. She canceled not me and she had more than 48 hours notice!!! I have the owner on my answering machine stating she would refund me. BEWARE.

In response to the previous poster: My thought exactly, The hair dresser was clearly confused!!! And not professional. The appointment was already canceled per the salons request, so why was she calling to confirm? I would love to hear Leisa's explanation of this and would hope for her to handle this in a professional manner as a business owner should.

I'm a little confused about the previous post. The Blogger states that the salon owner called her to cancel the appointment, but then later, states that the owner called to confirm the appointment. Sounds like she was confused. Also, being in the wedding industry, and being married myself, deposits are always non-refundable unless otherwise stated. It sounds to me like the Blogger is bitter, and taking it out on the salon.
