I used to visit this salon regularly, until they switched to Aveda color and my regular stylist, whom I always tipped generously, refused to fix my color when it washed out and went brassy/ frizzy after the first home shampoo. Basically, I went in to show her my hair and she stepped away from her client gave it a quick look from across the room and said, "No, it's FINE!" But, I went back last evening after a couple of years absence because they have re-added Paul Mitchell color and they did give me a great cut in the past. Big mistake. My first impression was that the redecorated salon looked tacky. My stylist had messy hair and dirty fingernails. I gave her a picture of the shag haircut I wanted, and we discussed my wanting a SHAG cut. I had even grown out my hair at the bottom to accommodate the look. I was one of two clients she worked on at the same time, and felt she was distracted. I ended up with a BOB cut, not a shag! The back of my hair was cut straight across. She'd also talked me into freshening up the color with a little burgundy in the #5 brown shade I've been wearing. Afterward, my roots, which were gray when I went in, were burgundy and very visible against the rest of my hair. I pointed that out and she said, "No, that's just the color on your scalp. You'll get used to it." Also, gone was the excellent scalp massage I'd received in the past with the shampoo following a color or preceding a cut. While the stylist cut my hair, there was a strange, hyperactive middle-aged woman wandering the shop and interrupting our conversation to ask my stylist questions. I left unhappy but unwilling to be ingracious. I gave the stylist an average tip in addition to the high cost of the services, but will be asking the owner/ manager to repair the color on my roots at no charge, and will let her know her stylist didn't know the difference between a shag and a bob.
