from start to finish, an AWFUL experience...very chaotic unorganized office and lab....eye exam was very erroneous...didnt read my previous eye specs correctly...very rude tester...i had to have three different pairs of glasses made due to the errors....the wait was 3 1/2 hours due to my previous complaints....they filed my insurance wrong and i had the insurance agent call them to correct the errors...they did not correct..they have been billing and phone harassing me for two years...

I had an appointment, however was totally ignored and had to
wait for 1 hour before I was called, but only after I had complained.
Another wait for an hour in the "exam room" before Dr. Gross
came. Exam was impersonal and fast. I left frustrated.
I had been a patient here for over 20 years, I decided to never
go back......the equipment during my exam was not working
properly, but the exam was continued with only a remark that
"we will fix it".
Furniture in waiting room not clean. Terrible experience.

Waiting room is uncomfortable with old furniture.....
during eye exam did not function correctly.
I had been a patient here for over 20 years, but things have changed for the worse. I had to seek out another ophthalmologist,.

I did find another ophthalmologist.....I will not go bak to this office.

Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there. They would probably do better if they were more friendly. They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research if I want to get my questions answered. This provider left me totally in the dark as to how much it was going to cost!
For Tricare Prime patients, BE VERY CAREFUL as the staff tends to tell you they have received your referral and you are good to go and then AFTER a year the billing department (which they are a joke as well! They work "half a day"-if you can call it work-as they are very incompetent) sends you a bill saying that you didn't have a referral and you are responsible for the whole amount! If you try to dispute that, you will talk to the manager (some manager!) and she will yell at you telling the receptionist did say you didn't have a referral and that you are lying!
Tricare told me that if they would have been notified within weeks of this appointment, they would have been able to change that to an actual referral, but after a year, it's very hard.
Needless to say, I don't go to Dr. Gross anymore. Tricare patients you can call the Naval Hospital or any Tricare facility to change doctors ANYTIME.

Office review not just for Dr. Gross. Appointments, waiting time, very poor. Appointments take a while to schedule, not really a problem, but based on my last three visits, i waited, over 20 minutes, over 45 minutes, and on third, although early(no wait) was told they couldn't see me because had to be seen by Gross before could have refraction test. so i missed half a day of work because they scheduled me for a refraction test when they shouldn't have. Already had check up scheduled with Gross for about 3 weeks later. Like another reviewer, I have seen that angry side of Gross, twice. Once at a staff member, i remember their scared look on their face, like a child being scolded, and another at me because i wasn't grasping something he was explaining was happening to me, probably something he sees everyday, but i was experiencing for the first time in 43 yrs. Then there's the guy that does the refraction test, does a good job, but don't expect any sense of decent bedside manner. he's doing his job and is dismissive or short when you ask questions, and of course tells you that test was an additional $40, AFTER he's already done it, so much for a choice. So, I was still willing to go back even with the personality quirks of Gross & the refraction guy. They had my records for years, Gross told me what was happening to me, which is essentially i'm getting old and that's what is going on with my eyes; and Refraction guy got prescription spot on. So i was going back. I'll deal with the quirks if the final results are good. Most recent visit though was when they scheduled me but wouldn't provide the service. So i'm done, i'll start over with someone else. It's just not worth to have to deal with all that.

I took my Uncle in for a check up. The staff there were very nice, the usual medical type of staff. The doctor was another story, he just kept pushing my Uncle to schedule a surgery even though his numbers did not support that he needed it. When my uncle did not schedule he had a fit and went OFF on one of his staff members in front of me telling her that she was not doing her job and that she could be replaced. The doctor then apologized to me for his assistant, ( poor woman was almost crying ), THE ONLY THING THIS DOCTOR IS INTERESTED IN IS YOUR MONEY. He tried to force a surgery on my Uncle that he DID NOT NEED. I later spoke with one of my co-workers that made the mistake of going there and she says that she had the same experience with her Mother and that he is BI-POLAR and you can definitely tell when you have to interact with this rude disgusting doctor. Dr. Gross should get someone to regulate his meds and retire from medicine you can definitely tell that he only sees dollar signs and not people or patients. I hope no one else has to experience this doctors 'GOD EGO' like my Uncle and I did. There are other doctors out that that actually care about their patients more than their bank accounts. Dr. Frederick Gross is one doctor that is only in medicine for his OWN well being, not the patients.
