Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed

  • 1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened

  • 1 egg white

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats

  • 1/3 cup wheat bran

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 orange, zested

  • 1 tablespoon orange juice

Directions

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Cream the margarine using an electric mixer in a medium mixing bowl.

  • Slowly add the granulated and brown sugars to the bowl and continue to mix for 2-3 minutes.

  • Add the applesauce and egg white to the mixing bowl, and combine.

  • Sift the dry ingredients together in a separate mixing bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the bowl of wet ingredients, along with the orange juice and zest.

  • Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and place the dough on the paper one tablespoon at a time.

  • Bake for 10 minutes, or until the bottom of the cookies are lightly browned. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack.
