Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • 2 teaspoons dry sherry

  • 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce

  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon chili paste with garlic

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 teaspoons peanut oil

  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger

  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic

  • 1 pound sirloin beef steak, thinly sliced across the grain

  • 16 medium green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl combine the soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, dry sherry, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and salt and mix until blended.

  • In a large frying pan, heat the peanut oil. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and slices of steak and sauté until the steak browns.

  • Add the green onions and sauté for an additional 30 seconds. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan and sauté for one minute or until the sauce appears to thicken.
