Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef

  • 8 cups water

  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes with liquid

  • 1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 2 cups cooked long-grain rice

  • 2 large green bell peppers, chopped

  • 2 beef bouillon cubes

  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  • Brown the beef in a 6-quart saucepan. Drain excess fat.

  • Add the water, tomatoes, tomato sauce, rice, bell peppers, beef bouillon cubes, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly and bring to a boil.

  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 30-40 minutes or until the peppers are tender. Serve hot.
