Fill Thy Pillbox

Just wanted to put the word out that perhaps some of the best advice that I can give as a 20-year bipolar survivor is: FILL THY PILLBOX RELIGIOUSLY. I would also add that, unless schedules are really distrupted from what they normally are (or if you are not quite healthy) - DO NOT HAVE ANYONE REMIND YOU. Be extrememly strict with yourself to be responsible for your own medication. It's wonderful to have a partner that knows when it's appropriate to remind you and when not to, but ultimately it's your deal. Remember that if your hospitalized, the nursing staff will pass out your meds in a paper cup. For me, remembering about medicating myself is a sort of reminder that I'm doing fine. Having to be reminded or having to turn the car around to go back to the house and take my forgotten meds sends up warning flags that I need to pay better attention...
