I heard 1 out of 150 have it. Anyone else hear this? Let me give a huge tip. If you buy bread that tastes like sandpaper, heat it in microwave 30 seconds and it gets much softer.
Also, take a list of foods/ingredients to avoid when you go out to eat and ask it be given to the chef.
My wife is Celiac too. I've heard it is much more common than 1 in 150, but I understand that most people don't know they have the condition. We eat mostly wheat free at home and even though I can eat wheat, I've grown to enjoy the alternative foods and even baked products made with a gluten free flour.
