When I can't get my thoughts to stop running, I put on some soothing music (instrumental). I start concentrating on the music rather than my racing mind. My favorite CD is called Water's Edge by Tim Janis. But I'm sure some other instrumental music would do the trick, too.
You may be suffering from sleeping disorder. If you go an see a doctor to test your for the hypoglycemic syndrome with the four hour Medical Test for Hypoglycemia. One of the products come to my mind is DemaSleep. It’s property formula incorporates all natural and non-habit forming ingredients. See their site www.dermasleep.com for more detail.
Hope this helps.
Wow I hear you! so frustrating not to sleep. Make sure you go to a sleep center for a study first, see if you have sleep apnea. I find a bipap mask (prescribed by a doctor for sleep apnea) very helpful. My Rheumatologist just told me to take extra strength tylenol two of them up to 3x a day. I am trying this at night. seemed to work on 2nd night. while I'm very medicine oriented you may want to look to more natural remedies but be very careful to list any natural herbs ect when going for a prescription or to the doctors. kewp.
I guarantee a long walk will help you sleep. Guaranteed. Not this wussy treadmill stuff. Forget spas. Spas are not as affective to your life as no one creates anything in a spa. Do some physical activity like yardwork, cleaning the attic or basement, cleaning windows, walking a long distance, things that require physical activity that you can also benefit from. All spas do is rob you with nothing changed to your benefit. Remember do something that is creative or benefits you as physical activity. If you can walk three miles and I know anyone can first time try... I know you will be guaranteed tired and will sleep like a baby. Forget pills, therapy, advice from doctors. I bet you won't find any Amish folks staying up late worrying about the cable bill. Make sure turning that t.v. off as first priority. The body must go to sleep during the period of time when you feel that long walk. If you wait too long and don't go to sleep your body will get a second wind and you will have wasted that walk. So get a walk, eat lightly, feel the slumber, sleep and forget t.v. and spas.
Our body has sleep cicles and there is a reason why get darker at certain times.
Try to go to sleep at 10:00pm and wake up at 6:00am. 1 hour before 12 is like 4 hours after 12 for your body, between 10pm to 1am is when the physical recovery occur.
In my clinical experience, sleep problems are usually correlated to a gut malfunction (at the contrary of what is belief, 75% of the sleeping hormone melatonin is produced in the gut and only 25% in the pituitary gland) or a bacteria/fungus overgrowth as candida, h. plyori, etc.. (people with this condition wake up during the night or can not sleep because fungus and bacteria have a different cycle of life and are active at night releasing cortisol keeping you awake).
I treat with great success insomnia through specific functional laboratory testing and follow up protocols.
Doctors usually do not help much because gives you a pill and allopatic nutritionist give you a supplement that is basically the same thing.
