He completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition, he has completed subspecialized training in neuroendovascular surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York, and cerebrovascular and skull-based surgery fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, and he is the author of two textbooks.
