Dr. Emily Kiberd, Doctor of Chiropractic, has a mission for Urban Wellness Clinic: get her patients back to doing what they love, faster. As a young athlete who suffered frequent sports injuries, back pain, and neck pain, Dr Emily Kiberd discovered her fascination with the body’s biomechanics after an old sprained ankle was the root cause of her headaches as a teenager. She discovered yoga as a practice of optimized alignment and movement to maintain a supple body while staying active. She is currently one of the only chiropractors in Manhattan who also teaches yoga as a form of physical therapy.

With an innovative combination of Active Release Technique, biomechanics, functional movement patterns, strength training, and yoga, Dr Emily Kiberd uses her keen eye to correct the body’s compensation patterns and restore alignment. Her treatment includes a thorough movement assessment, Active Release Technique, Neurokinetic Therapy, physical therapy, specific yoga poses for strength and alignment, and gentle chiropractic care. She partners with like-minded practitioners to provide the most effective and individualized treatment for her patients to help relieve their back pain and neck pain.

Services Urban Wellness Clinic in midtown Manhattan take a holistic approach to patient care relieving back pain, neck pain, and restoring full body balance. Dr Emily Kiberd, Doctor of Chiropractic, and her team walk their talk by monthly continuing education and experimenting on their own bodies to deliver tried and tested rehabilitation to get you back to optimal health. They take a multi-disciplinary approach combining chiropractics, physical therapy, Neurokinetic Therapy, Active Release Technique, nutritional counseling, strength training, and yoga therapy.

Chiropractics: Chiropractic therapy forms the backbone of Urban Wellness Clinic. Dr. Emily Kiberd, NYC’s female chiropractor has built a hands-on sports chiropractic approach that gets you off the table and back to what you love to do, faster. They treat your body as a complex, interconnected system, and they combine their expertise, pulling techniques across rehabilitative disciplines. They assess how you move and hold yourself, and together they work to free you from back pain, neck pain, and whole body tension.

Physical Therapy: At Urban Wellness Clinic, physiotherapy treatments have three key components, a thorough assessment, treatment, and tools so you can take charge of your recovery with tools of life. They start with an in-depth examination of your health history, your specific goals, and how you move, to understand why you have neck pain, back pain, and any imbalance in the body. They design a comprehensive, personalized treatment specialized for your needs. You may have extensive scar tissue. They’ll break up adhesions with the very effective Active Release Technique. If you have had physical therapy before and you’re still in pain: we perform a series of movement tests, like the Functional Movement Screen and Anatomy in Motion, to determine the root cause of your pain. All physiotherapeutic treatments are active and gentle, to get you upright and moving as soon and as safe as possible. They monitor your progress closely with one on treatment and modify your plan as you become stronger. Continue therapy at home, with your series of specific exercises to speed up your body’s natural healing process, so you return to moving pain free.

Active Release Technique: Their patients are a work hard, play hard motivated bunch, who don’t want their injuries to hold them back. Active Release Technique (ART) therapy gets you moving pain free, with its precise combination of diagnosis and treatment. This potent ART treatment evaluates the body’s muscles and tense spots to uncover scar tissue that’s formed from acute trauma or long-term overuse. Every ART release therapy session is tailored to you, to free compressed nerves, improve oxygen flow, restore movement, and most importantly, relieve pain. Urban Wellness Clinic finds unbeatable results with Active Release Technique for sciatica, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and hamstring tears.

Neurokinetic Therapy: They go deep into your movement patterns and areas of weakness, to uncover your pain’s root cause. Together, they review your current injury, past injuries, and any surgical scars to help pinpoint the actual cause of your pain. Neurokinetic Therapy’s emphasis is hands-on muscle testing which helps us to quickly diagnose why a muscle is tense and overcompensating for weakness in other parts of the body. Using Neurokinetic Therapy, they test individual muscles, to diagnose how weak movement patterns knock your entire body off-kilter. Expect a custom set of exercises—adapted from pro athletes’ regimens—to retrain and recharge your body. Urban Wellness Clinic is one of the few clinics with level 3 Neurokinetic Therapy NYC practitioners, so expect the best at Urban Wellness Clinic, located at 57 West 57th Street, Suite 1406, New York, New York, 10019. For an appointment, call 212-355-0445.
