About

Grand Prix Smiles, DMD

Grand Prix Smiles is a Formula One racing themed dental office in Orlando. Dr. Carlos Medina offers 10 years of his experience and expertise to his patients in performing the latest dental procedures.

You may be asking yourself why we have a racing theme at our adult dental office....the reason is Dr. Medina loves Formula One racing. He loved it so much that he signed up and raced in the Skip Barber Regional Series and ended up winning the championship!

Dr. Medina remains a race driving instructor with the PBOC at Sebring International Raceway throughout the year. His idea for his newly built dental practice was to integrate a fun theme that might distract nervous patients from thinking negatively about their dental appointments.

We are always welcoming new patients to our practice and can also accept walk-ins.

I went here for a chipped tooth, they were able to get me an appointment on the same week that I called. I filled out all of my paperwork on the computerized system they had, no forms and no writing. The girl at the front asked for my insurance information and called the company right then. She told me they accepted my insurance and told me my deductible amount within 10 minutes. Then I was taken in the back for x-rays, I usually hate that part. This time it wasn't bad because they have digital x-rays and they were quick. After my x-rays, the doctor came in to look at my teeth. He looked at my x-rays and talked to me, asking me how often I brush my teeth and other dental questions. He also told some jokes that made me feel more comfortable.

While he looked in my mouth, he was gentle. He made me stick my tongue out which I haven't done at a dentist. When I asked him why, he said it was part of the oral cancer screening he does on every patient. I liked that he checked my mouth for cancer, since no other dentist I've been to has done that before. He showed me my x-rays on a laptop computer and told me my tooth would need a crown. My exam took about 45 minutes, but the doctor was in the room the whole time talking to me, which I liked. There weren't any other patients in the office, so he probably had time to talk.

The girl from the front came in the room and explained what my insurance would pay for my crown and what I would have to pay, then she said they could do the procedure today from start to finish if I wanted to. She said it would take a little more than an hour as long as there weren't any problems.

The doctor came back in the room to give me a shot to get me numb, the worst part. Except he said he would go really slowly with the shot and it didn't hurt at all, not even a little bit! After he was done drilling, he used a machine to take pictures of my tooth and showed me on the computer what it looked like. Then he made a crown on the computer and said I could watch the crown being made if I wanted to. He showed me the other machine that makes the crowns and I watched it grind a porcelain block into my crown. It took about 20 minutes for the crown to be done, the girl from the front had given me a magazine and a bottle of water while I waited. The doctor adjusted the crown and cemented it on. It took about an hour from start to finish.

Everyone here is so nice and they all talked to me when I was getting my crown done. The doctor is really nice and likes to explain the procedure to you and answered all of the questions I had. Since I had insurance, the price was good and there weren't any hassles when I checked out. The office is clean and new and all of the equipment looks new too. They have a racing theme because it's the doctor's hobby and the dental chairs look like racing seats which I thought was neat. They played music while I got my crown done and asked me what music I liked. I thought it was a little cold in the office and told the front desk girl and she said they have electric blankets and next time just let them know and they'll get it for me. I'm definitely coming back to get my cleaning here and I told my friends and family about them. If you're looking for a dentist and want a nice one that is gentle, come here!
