Deborah Cihonski, PhD, NCSP, ITDS

I offer a caring and healing place for children, families, and couples to find solutions and hope. I have been in practice for over 18 years in a private setting as well as in the schools and with state agencies. I have specialized training and experience with adolescent development and therapy, developmental delays, ADHD, academic/learning difficulties, depression, anxiety, girl/woman/gender issues, behavior analysis, autism spectrum disorders, psychoeducational issues, traumas and a wide range of other issues. I am also a certified infant/toddler developmental specialist working with Early Steps, and I offer a wide variety of play therapy modalities in my Carrollwood office as well as child, parent, and family counseling, support, and advocacy.

I am also a mother and I know how difficult it is to see your child struggling and not know where to find help. I offer the resources and support needed to help your child and family find happiness and success.

I offer individual and couples/family therapy and comprehensive psychoeducational/personality testing. I use cognitive therapy, play therapy, applied behavior analysis, and other individualized therapeutic methods to help children, adolescents, families, and couples find success and hope.

Dr. Cihonski is an amazing psychologist. I had been through so many different psychologists prior to seeing her and was feeling so hopeless. I found her profile on psychology today and her bio and photo really engaged me. Upon meeting her, I found that everything I had hoped she would be, she was. She was so good at working with my daughter. She was open, friendly, compassionate, and such a great listener. I felt like she really took the time to connect with my daughter and my family. She is very intelligent and well versed in her field. She gave me so many resources and really made sure that she felt my family would be okay before she left Florida. I am so grateful for the work that she did with our family. She is so easy to trust and such an experienced psychologist. I can't imagine seeing someone better, and I have seen A LOT.

Dr. Deb Cihonski has been such a blessing to our family. We started seeing her because our teenage daughter was having some serious difficulties. Having taken our daughter to other therapists, we expected the same reluctance to participate with Dr. Cihonski's sessions and recommendations. To our surprise, our daughter loved going to her appointments almost from the beginning.

Dr. Deb is warm, funny, and so insightful. She worked with our family as a system to support our daughter, but really kept a focus on the whole family – siblings, too. I was so worried about my other two children and our comprehensive treatment worked from many angles. Eventually, my husband and I began seeing Dr. Deb as a couple. We were so pleased to be able to work again with this wonderful therapist on a different set of family issues.

I cannot say enough about our positive experiences and am grateful that we found Dr. Deb Cihonski, a provider with so much experience and who cares so much.
