Dr. Robert Guerrera was the Service Chief of the Dual Disorder Unit at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. He currently offers outpatient psychiatric services in Wilton, CT.
Dr. Guerrera received his medical degree from the Universita degli Studi di Bologna, Facolta di Medicina e Chirurgia in Bologna, Italy. He completed his residency training in psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC where he served as the chief resident of the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic.
Dr. Guerrera is a Board certified psychiatrist. He specializes in the treatment of dual disorders, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders (including PTSD, panic disorder, OCD, and social anxiety), schizophrenia, substance use disorders, eating disorders, psycho-oncology, and Electroconvulsive Therapy.
Dr. Guerrera provides comprehensive psychiatric services for adults including but not limited to pharmacological management and psychotherapy.
Dr. Guerrera utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy for individual therapy and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for marital and family therapy. He takes a team approach when treating individuals with eating disorders by working directly with primary care physicians and registered dieticians
Dr. Guerrera also provides treatment for substance use disorders by using motivational interviewing and opioid maintenance therapy with suboxone and naltrexone.

Their primary concern is my safety and comfort, and they always take the time to address every concern of mine immediately. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. They were so easy to reach in an emergency, they answered my call immediately. It is a relief to know that I can count on them to always be there for me when I need them the most. I was completely at ease during my appointment here. They went to great lengths to make sure I was completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time. I was amazed at how wonderfully they treated each of their staff members. They were so appreciative and thankful. I've never seen any employer treat their staff better, and it made me want to come back that much more.
