Dear South Bronx Mental Health Council Staff:

Back in December 2002, I went for an appointment (and would later go
regularly to South Bronx Mental Health) at the location of
1241 Lafayette and Hunts Point. The counseleor was very nice,
friendly and professional. I started group in January of 2003 and
from then on, I found it to be very helpful. I learned so much and the
counselors and therapists were excellent. I continued here at
this location for about 2 years (I'm not sure whether 2 or 3) but
then I went to 781 E.142nd ( I think this was the main building)
and I had the same excellent therapy there. I have been a former
client now for at least 5 years , but i thought that I would write this
on this day because today makes 13 years and 10 months to the
day when I stopped drinking (my drug of choice).

When i was going to South Bronx Mental Health at 1241, my
counselor (I don't know if I can mention his name) sent me to
a medical center (I think that what it was called) for treatment
and I remember I went on December 2 of 2003. That was the
last day that I had a drink. The next day, started the first day
of sobriety (Praise God) and I was there only 5 days. The service was very good also, and I have been clean and sober ever since!!! I thank all the counselors and therapists who helped me and I Thank God for leading me to South Bronx Mental Health!!! :-)

I still continue to be clean and sober. I also had and still have
wonderful family support. My father, unfortunately, didn't live
to see me get the help but I know that he would be proud. Other
members of my family got to see me get the help that I needed
and many of them are passed away now, but I thank God that they
did have the chance to see it. My sister and I lost our beloved Mom
last year, but I am so so very glad that she saw me get clean and
sober!!! she was such a wonderful person, mom, supporter, encourager
and so much more! She had prayed for my recovery for many years,
and she was so happy when I got help!!!! My sister is a wonderful
and loving supporter and encourager and again I thank God for
letting everything work out wonderfully! I am sorry to make this so
long, but i wanted to just say, Thank you to all the ones who helped
me and I will be forever grateful!!!

Have a nice and Blessed day.

Sincerely,

Stephanie
