I have joint custody of my young son, whom I see on the weekends and he is a client of Dr. Ed Combs. My son's mother takes our son to see Dr. Combs during the week. When I recently met with Dr. Combs in person for the first time to discuss the progress and material of his appointments with my son, Dr. Combs was insistent that I provide him with my own personal information and background before ever discussing with me about my son. Dr. Combs also tried to charge me for my meeting with him, as he considered it a counseling session. I politely informed Dr. Combs that I was not there to obtain counseling for myself, but to simply discuss my son since it was my legal right as his father with joint custody. Dr. Combs became very rude and unprofessional when I declined sign the consent forms or agree to pay him for what he called his "service" of meeting with me. As a Christian myself, I found Dr. Combs to be a hypocrite that day that I met with him and unprofessional as a so-called counselor. I've been working in the behavioral health field since 2004, and I work with many psychiatric providers who agreed that Dr. Combs violated my rights as a parent in trying to discuss my child's treatment.
