I've been going to this practice for about 6 years or so. I was seeing Erica but now I'm seeing Eric Ramsey. I will break up this review into different sections.

Fees and Charges and insurance problems I give them a 0- 1 stars.

1. I've been double charged back to back months on my credit card when I had one appointment that I paid right away that day in the office. They keep your credit card on file so they can run your card at ANY time and you are required to give them one.
2. They one day ran a five dollar charge against my card that -just had been compromised- and therefore it was denied and canceled for security by the credit card company. They sent me a bill and we're all uppity about how they didn't get there random sweep of the 5 dollars that some how was owed on my account.( Still I don't understand how I owed only 5 dollars they must have told me to pay the incorrect amount for copay as I've had problems with other doctors telling me it's less and I try to sat it should be more and they don't want to take the actual correct amount -then I end up owing usually 10 dollars). I was wondering why did they all of a sudden do a random sweep and when did this start. If I happen to have anything on balance which wasn't typical I was allowed before to pay it at my next visit. But that doesn't matter. I was just upset that they did not INFORM ME that they were doing this sweep. What if it was $350 and it over drew my debit card if I gave them that as a credit card. Really it was just very rude in my opinion for sending out a late bill etc on something I had no clue about and they already tried to get from me WITH OUT even telling me. If they had just called and said hey, you owe 5 dollars we are going to charge your card I would have given them the money right away. I was left being concerned that they would turn me over to collections due to it being 'late' already for a bill I was never informed about. So that urged me. But something bigger bothered me and is important to know....

3. If you have a certain well known insurance let's say BCBS, and a very good plan too you can be denied coverage st their Woodbridge location even if you look up in your provider directory and it says that your provider is approved. For some unknown and imo unfair reason if you have a plan provided by Magellan or something (starts with an M- it might be written on the back of your card) they WILL NOT give you coverage for your appointments etc at their Woodbridge location, YET with your exact same plan you can be seen with coverage at their Alexandria locaction. If you have Obama care you might have this problem. Also not every practitioner works at both locations which is an issue to trying to get around this. It takes many months to get into any psychiatric office as a new patient so you might want to try to go in with your card before hand and ask them if they will take yours before waiting all that time. Or bite the expensive bullet and just pay out of pocket as I have had to bc my provider only works at this location.

I know that sounds like a lot of bad stuff but I really like FPA.

The staff are very very nice and helpful. 5 stars on the people. I have never seen Dennis Cozzens the psychiatrist but he seems nice and other people seem to like him. I saw Erica Bindrium for most of my years there. She is the reason why I love FPA. She is exceptionally intelligent and is upto date on all sorts of research and different things. She knows very much about how the whole body works together medically as well as all the mental aspects. I just happen to see that Erica Bindrium has high quality experience in treating patients in a variety of settings and different needs and severity in cases. I always felt comfortable with her and felt that she could handel any problem I had. Also she talks to you like a normal person, explains everything, and goes over options. She has currently taken a long leave from this practice.

Eric R. Is very good and very nice. Helpful and understanding. Happy to explain how medication works as well which is great.

Absolutely horrendous. I have never been to such a horrible practice in my entire life. I had two appointments with Erica Bindrim and both times I had to wait an HOUR after my scheduled appointment time to see her, even though I had to take off of work for the appointment and they refused an actual appointment time any later. One of those times, she was just sitting in her office alone completely unaware she had an appointment but the office admin refused to tell her I was there. When I did speak with her, she was completely unprofessional but I assumed she at least knew what she was talking about.

Unfortunately at our last appointment, she did not inform me that I had to come back to refill my prescription, so when I called before leaving to go out of town and was going to run out – she refused! Or rather, I should say that the office administrator said that she refused and informed me that should *not* call me. I asked for 4 pills to get me through the holiday and I would make an appointment when I returned – she still said no. Now I guess I have to stop taking the medication…awesome. Please just stay away from this place. You would think they would have been a little friendlier/better mannered for a psychiatric office.
