I was a client of Betty Cottini approximately 10 years ago. We had sessions usually once a week, sometimes once every two. In, the beginning, Betty was observant and thoughtful and I enjoyed our visits even though I felt she was not helpful. I talked mostly during our sessions while she took notes. I felt as though I was paying money to chat with her.
When I faced difficult situations, she gave me no direction nor any suggestions. And guidance is what I dearly needed then but unfortunately, she either could not or would not sincerely help.
Then, after visiting her for two years, during a session with her, she suddenly began yelling at me, accusing me of being a manipulative, narcissistic, liar who did not deserve my parents' love. That was very hard to digest because I had trusted her for years. She never apologized for her behavior and I doubt she ever will but I think those who see her or are considering seeing her should be aware that she has (possibly had) those tendencies. I have an extremely hard time trusting those in the psychology field and my experiences with her are largely what caused that.
