About

Robert White, Therapist III

Tell your story and heal.

"We want to tell our own stories, in telling our stories we heal," said Rev. Mervin Wolfleg, of the diocese of Calgary, "If you want to heal with us then tell your own stories," he added.

Talking and telling your story in a confidential and safe environment does promote healing. Wolfleg Counseling provides not only a listening ear, but provides instruction about how to manage attention for the purpose of being more present and less stressed.

Depression, anxiety, and stress are often times a result of thinking badly about ourselves and our circumstances. At Wolfleg Counseling, we will help you sort through what is real and what is not real.

Services Wolfleg Counseling provides counseling and therapy services to residents of Iowa City, Iowa and the surrounding area. We also provide distance counseling to a worldwide clientele via Skype conferencing. Wolfleg Counseling's philosophical approach to counseling is heavily influenced by Native North American thought. The follow short story illustrates this point:

A young Navajo girl asked her grandmother why life is so hard sometimes. Grandmother said, "Life is hard for us two leggeds because we all have a serpent and an eagle in us that fight from time to time. The serpent tells itself, 'I am not worthy; I am not responsible.' "

After reflecting, the young girl asked, "Which one wins?" Grandmother replied, "The one you feed wins."

I have been seeing James for almost 6 years now. He has helped me to help myself transform my life with my ADHD and bipolar. His ethics and professionalism is the best I've seen in all my years of going to counseling

Mr. Smith was knowledgeable concerning my issues and would give helpful feedback when appropriate. It was particularly helpful to me to learn how to deal effectively with my own negative self-talk. I discovered ways to question, challenge and disbelieve in those destructive thoughts and replace them with more realistic thoughts. Redirecting my attention was another valuable tool I picked up from Mr. Smith.

I read the very negative review about Mr. Smith on this site and it doesn't seem like the reviewer is talking about the same person. Mr. Smith always contacts me ahead of our scheduled appointment to make sure that I am still planning on being there for our session.

I guess the bottom line is this; I feel like Mr. Smith listens to and understands me.
